July 7, 2006, Newsletter Issue #22: What is liability law and how does it work with respect to Vioxx?

Tip of the Week

The expected surge of Vioxx lawsuits will involve product liability law. Product liability is when any maker or seller of any product is held accountable for supplying a customer with a defective or dangerous product. Anybody who is responsible for putting a defective product on the market, which can cause them injuries, can be held liable for those products. Whether it is the maker of the product, the maker of any component parts, the wholesaler, or the retailer; all can be held liable for a defective product.
